Info

At the beginning of 2024, John Deere introduced the most powerful series-production tractor on the market. The new 9RX 710, 770, and 830 models differed in many ways from the smaller 9RX models. Common features included four tracks, but the drive wheels were increased by 20 cm to 1.2 meters. The ground contact pressure (0.58 kg/cm²) was comparable to that of the smaller 9RX models.

In the smaller models, the frame structure was self-supporting, but the modular design of the larger models was primarily engineered for easy maintenance. The weight without additional ballast was 33,500 kg. The width was just under the 3-meter limit. The turning radius was reported as 19.6 meters. The 1,952-liter fuel tanks were located under the cab, unlike the smaller models where they were in the rear tank. Depending on ADR regulations, the fuel capacity in European countries was limited to 1,500 liters.

The engine was an 18-liter JD18X, previously used in the largest forage harvesters. In the most powerful model, the maximum power was 913 hp and torque 4,234 Nm. Stage V emissions compliance did not require urea injection or a particulate filter since emission requirements were more lenient for power classes above 762 horsepower than for smaller ones. However, EGR was necessary to reduce NOx emissions.

The base transmission was a fully mechanical e21 PowerShift with 24 forward and 11 reverse gears. In practice, only 21 gears were usable, with the rest used to support other gears and clutches depending on the load. Between gears 13 and 14, there was a slower-shifting main clutch. The maximum speed was 40 km/h. The hydraulics produced 424 l/min with two pumps and 636 l/min with three pumps. The hydraulic oil change interval was 4,000 hours.

The cab was called CommandView 4 Plus and was larger in size and glass area than before. The mechanical cab suspension was upgraded with three-level adjustability. Steering effort and steering ratio were adjusted according to driving speed, improving comfort in the field and drivability on the road. The cab came standard with a 12.8” display, instrument cluster on the A-pillar, and JD Precision Ag integration, such as adjustable application rates and optional section control.

The data has been collected primarily from brochures. In some cases, sources contain conflicting information. In such cases, we have attempted to select the most reliable information. There is particularly significant variation in speed data, which varies depending on factors such as tire size. For tires, only the size most commonly used in Finland is listed. Other changes during the model history have been addressed in the text section. For the front axle lock, the Finnish term "hammaslukko" (gear lock) is used for all 100% locks.
