John Deere 8R 280-410

For 2027, the revamped 8 Series remained available as the wheeled tractor 8R, as the dual-track 8RT, and as the four-track 8RX. Power ratings ranged from 280 to 410 hp, with the lowest rating exclusive to the 8R. Engines were 9.0 liters.

The cab was now the CommandView 4, identical to that in the previously introduced larger models. New features included a soft-close door, push-button start with PIN-code protection, a 320°-sweep wiper, and wireless phone charging. On 8RX models, the CommandView 4 Plus cab removed the right-side console, which the manufacturer said increased foot space by 15% and improved implement visibility by 20%.

The updated CommandARM featured either the CommandX Plus or CommandX Pro joystick. The standard integrated comfort display allowed saving and quickly recalling driver-specific settings such as seat position, climate control, and infotainment preferences. The revamped 8 Series came standard with a factory-ready kit for retrofitting John Deere’s autonomous technology.

The base transmission was the e23, a 23+12 powershift with 10 gears in the 5–16 km/h range and a top speed of 50 km/h. The three smaller models could be optioned with the stepless AutoPowr transmission.

On the two largest models, the optional stepless eAutoPowr transmission enabled 50 km/h at 1,150 rpm. At low speeds (below 5 km/h), the driveline operated fully electrically, as the hydrostatic unit of the stepless transmission was replaced by a generator and electric motor.
