Info

In 1951, the Lanz Alldog work machine carrier was introduced. The driver sat behind on the right, next to the engine. At the front was a tubular beam frame, on top of which could be placed a platform with a carrying capacity of 700 kg. A lifting device mounted between the axles for attaching work machines underneath was standard equipment. The rear lifting device was an optional accessory. Power take-offs were available both facing forward and backward. Thanks to portal axles, there was plenty of ground clearance. An unusual engine choice was made for the Alldog: the engine was a two-stroke motorcycle engine from Triumph’s German factory (TWN). In the next version, the A 1215, Lanz had applied its own semi-diesel technology to the engine. The engine was started with gasoline, and once warmed up, it was switched to diesel. The engine remained low on torque, noisy, and smoky. Another novelty in the A 1215 was an optional crawling gear added as an extension to the ZF 5+1 transmission.

In 1955, the third version, the A 1305, was introduced, in which the two-stroke diesel’s power was increased to 13 horsepower and the transmission was changed to a 6+1 gear unit. The last attempt to revive the engine’s performance was direct injection in the 1956 A 1315 model. Later, Deutz built a modification kit that allowed a 20-horsepower Deutz diesel engine to be installed in the Alldog.

Eventually, Lanz also gave in and purchased an MWM diesel for the A 1806 model. However, sales did not pick up, and the Alldog concept was discontinued in 1960.

The data has been collected primarily from brochures. In some cases, sources contain conflicting information. In such cases, we have attempted to select the most reliable information. There is particularly significant variation in speed data, which varies depending on factors such as tire size. For tires, only the size most commonly used in Finland is listed. Other changes during the model history have been addressed in the text section. For the front axle lock, the Finnish term "hammaslukko" (gear lock) is used for all 100% locks.
