The Ares 500 and 600 series were updated in 2002, but small changes were also made when the Ares models were renamed Claas in the autumn of 2003. The most significant change was the arrangement of the 6-cylinder models: the 616 was now equipped with a turbo, and the 626 and 636 were replaced by the 656, which had power between the two (125 hp).
