Vladimir Tractor Factory’s T-25 was known in most export markets as the Belarus 250. The tractor was also considered for Finland, and it was displayed at agricultural fairs there at least in the late 1970s and again in the late 1990s. However, it was determined that the tractor did not meet local requirements. In Sweden it was sold from 1978 onwards.
The T-25 was introduced in 1966 and was built at the Kharkiv plant. Its two-cylinder, air-cooled engine was dimensioned to match the four-cylinder LTZ-40. Power output was 20 hp (DIN) or 25 hp (SAE). From 1972 production was moved to the Vladimir plant, and the power rating was most commonly given as 25 hp (DIN) or 29 hp (SAE). The transmission featured a reverser and offered 6 forward and 6 reverse gears. In the improved model introduced in 1975, the T-25A, there were also two crawler gears forward, giving a total of 8 forward and 6 reverse speeds. The gear levers were located in the center of the cab floor. The hydraulic pump delivered 15.75 liters per minute at a maximum pressure of 140 bar. As an option, a 30 l/min, 175 bar pump was available. At least in the USA, a four-wheel-drive version was also offered. In various countries the 250 was sold without a cab or fitted with locally produced cabs. From the 1975 T-25A model onwards a metal cab was made available. In the 1990s a new cab was introduced, styled to resemble those of the larger Belarus tractors.
In the 2000s the Vladimir plant was still producing the T-25. Modernized VTZ-2000 series models, based on the same technology, were also introduced with updated appearances. In 1994 the Kharkiv plant presented the further developed HTZ-2511, an evolution of the T-25.
