Bautz AS 180 - 350 AW

In 1955, the AS 220 was replaced by the AS 240, which featured an air-cooled MWM engine. The transmission was now Bautz's own production, and the lowest gear was called the crawling gear. This model already had a horizontally slatted grille. Another innovation was the V-steering, a V-shaped lever/rod system for the steering, which allowed for a greater wheel turning angle than normal. Similar changes were also made to the AS 180, which replaced the AS 171.

In 1956, Bautz clarified its model designations so that air-cooled models received the AL code and water-cooled models the AW code. The larger models were now AL 180, AW 180, AL 240, and AW 240. All featured a new, horizontally slatted grille. The air-cooled MWM engines had displacements of 1.4 and 1.8 liters, while the water-cooled ones were 1.25 and 1.7 liters. Several wheelbase options were available over the years. The gearboxes always had 5+1 gears.

From 1958 to 1961, Bautz sold Nuffield tractors in Germany to customers needing larger tractors.

In 1959, the 240 models were replaced by the 350 AW and 350 AL models. Like the new 200 and 300 series, the 350 models were red, and the rear fenders were shaped similarly to the smaller models, with headlights mounted on them. Power increased by 25 horsepower.

After the Nuffield collaboration, Bautz started cooperating with Hanomag, and the successor to the 350 was planned to be based on the Hanomag Perfekt.
