Info

In the autumn of 2002, the T-series of 6-cylinder Valtras was introduced, whose design resembled the S-series introduced the previous year. The engine hood and fenders were made of plastic, and new colors added to the range included gold and metallic gray (which was later changed to silver). From the start, the lineup included 7 models, with power ranging from 120 to 210 hp according to the ISO standard. The table also shows the DIN horsepower ratings declared in Germany. The T140 was a low-speed model, and in the two largest models, the T180 and T190, the injection pump was electronically controlled. In the T180, maximum power was available in the second and third gears of the powershift. In the T190, power increased further when at least 400 Nm was transmitted through the Vario transmission. Despite stricter emission requirements, the engine characteristics were successful. Starting from production in July 2003, even the smaller models moved to electronically controlled engines. This can be recognized by the twist-type hand throttle knob.

The tractor's structure was largely similar to the HiTech models. The subframe contained a 165-liter fuel tank. The wheelbase was the longer version of the two options previously offered for the HiTech models. This led to a rather large turning circle. Starting with the T140, a wider Carraro industrial front axle was standard, which helped somewhat with the turning issue. The transmission was still equipped only with a 3-speed powershift, whose automation corresponded to the HiTech 2.0 version.

The hydraulics were based on a gear pump, with output increased to 91 liters per minute. The system was made partially load-sensing by directing surplus oil back to the pump before the valves through a free-flow valve when the hydraulics were not in use. The flow rate and flow time of the valve blocks could be adjusted with potentiometers in the cab.

The cab was new but based on the previous frame structure. Access to the cab had been slightly eased. The interior was clearly more modern than before. The noise level was promised to be 73.5-74.5 dB, and 72 dB in the low-speed model. Standard equipment included air conditioning and an air-suspended seat. The optional front axle suspension was pneumatic, as is typical for Valtra.

The data has been collected primarily from brochures. In some cases, sources contain conflicting information. In such cases, we have attempted to select the most reliable information. There is particularly significant variation in speed data, which varies depending on factors such as tire size. For tires, only the size most commonly used in Finland is listed. Other changes during the model history have been addressed in the text section. For the front axle lock, the Finnish term "hammaslukko" (gear lock) is used for all 100% locks.
