Info

Introduced in 1960, the Oliver 1800 and 1900 met the need for increasingly larger tractors. For the first time, engine power exceeded 100 hp. The design was advanced and angular, characterized by an intentionally heavy cast iron grille. The 1800 was primarily a Row Crop tractor, but the 1900 was only available as the short wheelbase Wheatland version. The engine in the 1900 was now a 4-cylinder GM two-stroke diesel. New technology included draft sensing, a hydraulic PTO clutch, and an optional Hydro-Power hydraulic power shift. The tractor design considered the possibility of a cab, but one was not yet offered. Hydrostatic steering became available a little later.

In 1962, European-style four-wheel drive models of the 1800 and 1900 were introduced, followed by the 1600 in 1964. The four-wheel drive models were equipped with Goodyear's newly launched Terra low-pressure tires.

For 1963, Series B models of the 1800 and 1900 were introduced, featuring increased power and higher engine RPMs. The 1964 Series C models had improved hydraulics and a steering wheel adjustable for both length and height.

The data has been collected primarily from brochures. In some cases, sources contain conflicting information. In such cases, we have attempted to select the most reliable information. There is particularly significant variation in speed data, which varies depending on factors such as tire size. For tires, only the size most commonly used in Finland is listed. Other changes during the model history have been addressed in the text section. For the front axle lock, the Finnish term "hammaslukko" (gear lock) is used for all 100% locks.
