Info

In the autumn of 1974 White introduced two silver-painted two-wheel-drive tractors, the 2-70 and the 2-105. These replaced the earlier Oliver 55-series models, which had also been sold under the Minneapolis-Moline name. Both brands’ design solutions were combined in the new tractors, and several entirely new features were added. For example, the clutch could be rebuilt without splitting the tractor housing.

2-70
• Powered by Oliver six-cylinder petrol or diesel engines
• 6 + 2-speed unsynchronized transmission, with an optional three-speed “Hydraul-Shift” power shuttle
• 12-inch clutch with ceramic linings
• Hydrostatic steering with an adjustable column
• Open-center hydraulics driven by a 55 l/min pump and two external remote couplers
• No factory-installed cab available
• Four-wheel-drive listed as an option, but the brochure included neither pictures nor technical data for it
• As a rear-drive model (Field Boss), it featured a long wheelbase and most often a wide-adjustable front axle

2-105
• Perkins-built six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine
• Same transmission as the 2-70, but with a 13-inch clutch
• Standard 540/1000 rpm PTO
• Large, fender-mounted fuel tanks in the Oliver style (not integrated with a cab)
• Optional cab with a three-panel front windshield
• Both the 2-85 and 2-105 saw sales in many European countries

In 1976 the 2-85 was introduced. It was mechanically identical to its bigger sibling except that it lacked a turbocharger, reverted to a 12-inch clutch, and used two-disc brakes instead of three-disc assemblies.

The data has been collected primarily from brochures. In some cases, sources contain conflicting information. In such cases, we have attempted to select the most reliable information. There is particularly significant variation in speed data, which varies depending on factors such as tire size. For tires, only the size most commonly used in Finland is listed. Other changes during the model history have been addressed in the text section. For the front axle lock, the Finnish term "hammaslukko" (gear lock) is used for all 100% locks.
