Info

In the autumn of 1997, the TS series was developed from the Ford 40 series. Its appearance was similar to New Holland’s other new model series. Unlike those, however, the TS was offered in Finland only in blue.

The TS lineup was limited to the power range of 80-100 hp. The model numbers were based on power ratings according to the upcoming ISO TR14396 standard, so the DIN horsepower was 10 less than the model number indicated. Production of the 7840 from the 40 series continued until 1998, when the 100-horsepower TS115 was introduced for those wanting a smaller six-cylinder engine. Larger six-cylinder engines did not come to the TS series; those wanting them had to settle for models from the M/60 series.

The four-cylinder engines were now all 5.0 liters and turbocharged, except for the smallest model. The engines featured new cylinder heads and new distributor pumps. Torque characteristics were top-class. The transmission was directly from the 40 series. The only new feature was a two-speed powershift combined with the basic gearbox and hydraulic directional control. This model was known as Dual Command. The directional control lever had an integrated push-button clutch.

The top model was still the Electro Shift, equipped with a four-speed powershift, which had the downside of significant power losses. The ES model was fitted with automation capable of selecting the most suitable powershift stage when changing the range gear. ES models had a fully digital instrument cluster and a closed hydraulic system.

The TS series was imported to Finland with extensive equipment. Unprecedented on the standard equipment list in this class was an air-suspended seat. The seat also had longitudinal suspension. The external hydraulics included four valve blocks as standard, two of which were controlled by a joystick. All connectors were of the DeLuxe type with flow regulation. There were eight work lights as standard. The standard equipment also included 270 kg of front weights.

The TS110 and TS115 had a lifting device equipped with two auxiliary cylinders, providing a lifting capacity of 5580 kg. In Finland, even smaller models had one auxiliary cylinder. The lifting device was slow in its movements. DC and ES models had an electric lift device, which still featured a height adjustment lever reminiscent of a traditional lift lever. This eased the transition for conservative buyers to users of the electric lift device but caused unnecessary adjustment, as the lever had to be moved to a position corresponding to the lifting arms’ height after external height adjustment switches had been used or the tractor was turned off. The oscillation damping function activated automatically.

The cabin was basically the same as before, and the noise level was as high as previously. There were also shortcomings in the placement of the controls. The use of the power take-off was modernized compared to the 40 series. The four-wheel drive now had an engageable dog clutch. So some good things had come to Ford from Fiat as well. The TS115 had a pillar exhaust pipe.

In 2001, the power of the TS115 increased to 106 horsepower.
