International 553-824

In the summer of 1972, the tractor brand changed from McCormick International to simply International, and the plastic grille was replaced with a square-patterned aluminum grille. The smallest models in the range, 523 and 624, were replaced by slightly more powerful 553 and 654 models, which were manufactured in France as well as Germany. Alongside the basic version's 8+4 gearbox, the specially designed 12+4 gear Agriomatic S continued, where the gears in the smaller range could be accelerated by 20% using a hydraulic quick shift, or alternatively a hydraulic reverser could be used in the smaller range, but not both at the same time.

Only the 824 was imported to Finland, as English models were sold in the 50-70 hp power class. In 1973, the 824 received a new 4.0-liter engine, and power increased from 75 to 80 horsepower.
