Info

The mid-range 650 and 750 models were somewhat more old-fashioned than the rest of the range introduced in 1968. They were equipped with a 7+2-speed non-synchronized shuttle-gear transmission. On the 750, a mechanical Ampli Couple quick-shift unit was available as an optional extra. The twin clutch plates measured 12″ and 11″ in diameter. Contrary to other Fiats, there was no power take-off. The engines came from the OM truck works that Fiat had acquired: the 650 used a 3-cylinder 3.7-litre unit, and the 750 a 4-cylinder 4.6-litre. They ran at lower revs and delivered more attractive torque figures than the other Fiats.

In spring 1971 the 650 was replaced by the 650 Special, which added 70 horsepower and featured a reworked gearbox layout for easier shifting. Power steering became standard. The 750 was likewise replaced by the 750 Special (80 hp). The Special models remained in production until 1975, when the 780 and 880 were introduced.

The data has been collected primarily from brochures. In some cases, sources contain conflicting information. In such cases, we have attempted to select the most reliable information. There is particularly significant variation in speed data, which varies depending on factors such as tire size. For tires, only the size most commonly used in Finland is listed. Other changes during the model history have been addressed in the text section. For the front axle lock, the Finnish term "hammaslukko" (gear lock) is used for all 100% locks.
