The Maxxum range was updated in spring 2007 at the same time as its sister model, the New Holland T6000. The more expensive Maxxum models were called the Multicontroller. Common Rail engines with four-valve technology provided extra power on the road and in PTO operation. The gearbox was a 16+16-speed unit with quick-shift automation. There were also 17+16-speed 40 km/h Economy and 50 km/h versions available. The hydraulic system was closed-center, and as standard it had four spool blocks with adjustable flow. The front axle featured a 100 percent lock, which was controlled automatically based on the wheel-turn angle. Other standard equipment included cab suspension and programmable headland management.

Cab noise levels were 71–72 dB. The most important controls were grouped in the armrest. In the spring 2010 facelift, the instrument cluster was moved to the right A-pillar (the image from Case IH shows the newer model, and the lower image from Steyr shows the older one).
