The small MX series from Case IH was replaced by the CX in the autumn of 1998, but it only arrived in Finland a year later. The CX was an almost entirely new tractor, and the basic technology of its predecessors, which were nearly 30 years old, became history. The biggest single change was the switch to Perkins Fastram engines. The two smallest models had 2.7-liter three-cylinder engines, the CX70 had a 4.2-liter four-cylinder, and the larger models had 4.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinders.
