Info

The Steyrin M 900 series was born in 1994, and at that time the models M 968 and M 975, which had MWM engines, were available. Smaller models M 948 and M 958 were introduced in 1996. These models, on the other hand, had a new Perkins 3-cylinder engine instead of the earlier Steyr engine that had been manufactured in Turkey. The model series was called Allround Multi-Trac in advertisements.

Case IH purchased Steyr's tractor production in 1996, and the following year the smaller Steyrs were introduced into the Case IH lineup under the names CS 48 – CS 75.

The transmission used was Steyr's range selector except it was a synchronized 16+8 gear transmission. Versions with 30 km/h and 40 km/h were offered, and creep gears were available as an optional extra for the larger models. The power take-off had 4 speeds as standard.

The lift was mechanical and equipped with pushrod sensing. The lifting capacity was standard at 2,290 or 2,610 kg, and an additional cylinder provided about 700 kg more. The cab had a simple appearance but was reasonably quiet (80 dB). The gear levers were located on the side, and unlike the previous model, the pedals were now suspended type. There were digital displays for driving speed and engine revolutions. The high-roof version had a separate fresh-air blower on the roof.

In 1998, the MWM engines were replaced with 3.3-liter SisuDiesels, which had slightly more torque than the MWMs. In 1999, the exhaust pipe was moved to the front pillar of the cab.

The data has been collected primarily from brochures. In some cases, sources contain conflicting information. In such cases, we have attempted to select the most reliable information. There is particularly significant variation in speed data, which varies depending on factors such as tire size. For tires, only the size most commonly used in Finland is listed. Other changes during the model history have been addressed in the text section. For the front axle lock, the Finnish term "hammaslukko" (gear lock) is used for all 100% locks.
