Info

In 1987, Tenneco purchased Steiger, a manufacturer of articulated tractors, which International had been forced to give up a few years earlier. On a tight schedule, the 1000 series, which Steiger had introduced to the market the previous year, was repainted in Case IH colors. The Steiger Puma and Wildcat were replaced by the 9110 and 9130 models, whose Cummins and Caterpillar engines were replaced with Case IH's 8.3-liter engines (200/220 hp). The Steiger Cougar was succeeded by the 9150, which featured a Cummins LTA-10 (280 hp). The new designations for the Steiger Panther and Lion were Case IH 9170 and 9180. These had Cummins NTA-855 engines (335/375 hp). The older model Steiger Tiger 525 was also briefly produced under the name Case IH 9190, equipped with a 525-horsepower Cummins KTA-1150.

The 12+2-speed full powershift transmission was electronically controlled. The hydraulics were load-sensing. A three-point hitch and power take-off were optional extras. The track widths of the 9110 and 9130 could be quickly adjusted for row-crop work.

The data has been collected primarily from brochures. In some cases, sources contain conflicting information. In such cases, we have attempted to select the most reliable information. There is particularly significant variation in speed data, which varies depending on factors such as tire size. For tires, only the size most commonly used in Finland is listed. Other changes during the model history have been addressed in the text section. For the front axle lock, the Finnish term "hammaslukko" (gear lock) is used for all 100% locks.
