Fahr started tractor manufacturing in 1938. It was able to maintain production until 1944. After the war, production continued in 1948 with the model D 28. The engine was a 2-cylinder water-cooled Güldner diesel, and the transmission was the same 5+1 as in the wartime wood gasifier models.
In 1949, a series of three tractor models was introduced. The D 28 was succeeded by the D 30, and below it came the D 15 and D 22. The rounded hood differed from earlier models in that the grille was divided into six sections. The smallest model was a completely new design; Fahr had not previously manufactured such a small tractor.
