Info

Allis-Chalmers ceased production of their smallest models and in the late 1960s sought a solution for the 40 hp power class together with several European tractor manufacturers. An agreement was reached with Renault, and the One-Sixty was introduced to the market in 1969. The Renault 56 was equipped with a Perkins 3.152 engine instead of the MWM engine used by Renault. The front axle was replaced with Allis’s own, equipped with hydrostatic steering. The hood from model 170 was fitted to the front, and adjustable Allis Power-Shift rear wheels were used. The standard transmission was a 10+2 gearbox with a dual clutch. Later, a Basic model was also offered, which had a 6+1 gearbox, Renault’s front axle without power steering, and the differential lock was removed. In 1972, the appearance was updated in line with the rest of the Allis model range, and the model designation was changed to 160.

In 1973-74, a small number of an updated model, the 6040, were sold. Its appearance followed the newer 7000 series, and many small technical improvements were made.

The data has been collected primarily from brochures. In some cases, sources contain conflicting information. In such cases, we have attempted to select the most reliable information. There is particularly significant variation in speed data, which varies depending on factors such as tire size. For tires, only the size most commonly used in Finland is listed. Other changes during the model history have been addressed in the text section. For the front axle lock, the Finnish term "hammaslukko" (gear lock) is used for all 100% locks.
