Info

The largest model of the new Deutz lineup introduced in 1958 was initially the D 40, which had a 35-horsepower 712-series engine. The front axle was suspended. There was also an S version of the D 40, which featured, among other things, larger wheels, an 8+2 gearbox, and a power take-off independent of the driving clutch. The model topped the sales charts in Germany.

In 1960, the D 50 was launched, with a power output of 46 hp and 7+3 gears. Two years later, it was replaced by the D 55 with 52 horsepower, featuring a stronger 8+4 gearbox, a new rear axle and hydraulics, and a redesigned dashboard. In 1962, a lightweight D 40 S was also introduced, based on the technology of the D 30 and the engine of the D 40.

In 1964, the 6-cylinder D 80 was introduced, with a new 812-series engine. The technical innovation of the D 80 was hydrostatic steering. The other 1964 models also featured new engines. The 65-horsepower F 4 L 514/7 was never updated to the D series; instead, it was sold until 1965 under the name Deutz 65 PS.

The data has been collected primarily from brochures. In some cases, sources contain conflicting information. In such cases, we have attempted to select the most reliable information. There is particularly significant variation in speed data, which varies depending on factors such as tire size. For tires, only the size most commonly used in Finland is listed. Other changes during the model history have been addressed in the text section. For the front axle lock, the Finnish term "hammaslukko" (gear lock) is used for all 100% locks.
